Initial Call
The initial voice call serves as an ice-breaker, providing an opportunity to discuss the client’s goals and gain a general understanding of their product. This conversation helps both parties determine if we’re a good fit to collaborate and sets the foundation for a successful partnership.
Describe the product here. Include important features, specifications and other relevant details.

On Boarding
The onboarding process is designed to ensure a seamless start to your project. It begins with setting up communication channels through Microsoft Teams, far more effective than email, to keep collaboration smooth and efficient. The client doesn’t need to download or pay for any additional software—we handle everything to ensure a hassle-free experience.
Creating A Specification
Creating a specification document is a critical step in turning your idea into a reality. This document, developed collaboratively over a series of video calls and messages, serves as a detailed blueprint outlining key aspects such as the product’s functionality, dimensions, materials, weight, and target manufacturing costs.
By working closely with the client, we ensure that every requirement and expectation is captured, leaving no room for ambiguity.
The specification document not only provides a clear direction for the design and development process but also acts as a reference point to align everyone, ensuring the final product meets both technical and aesthetic goals while remaining feasible for production and positioned for commercial success.

Creating a Milestone Document
Creating a milestone document is an essential step in structuring and organizing the project. This document outlines the key stages of the development process, breaking the project into manageable phases with clearly defined goals, time estimates, and associated costs.
Each milestone marks a key step in the process, ensuring the project progresses systematically and remains aligned with the client’s vision.
The milestone document also provides transparency, giving the client a clear understanding of what to expect at each stage.
By reviewing and approving each milestone, the client maintains control over the pace and direction of the project, fostering a collaborative and efficient workflow.

First Prototypes Created
The first milestone marks the start of the project, focusing on creating initial mock-ups and functional prototypes to test components, feasibility, and functionality.
Sketches play a key role at this stage, with coloured and annotated designs adding realism to convey ideas quickly and cost-effectively.

Prototype Manufacturing
We utilize a variety of 3D printing technologies such as FDM, SLA, Polyjet etc each with unique pros and cons.
While 3D printing is a versatile and powerful tool, other manufacturing technologies might be more appropriate at this stage depending on the product requirements.
Techniques such as CNC Machining or Vacuum Forming may offer better precision, materials, or scalability. If deemed suitable, Rewire Designs will include these methods in the milestones document to ensure the best approach for your project.

Reverse Engineering
For reverse engineering or exploring unconventional designs and geometrically complex designs we can use modelling clay to shape concepts manually, providing a tactile, iterative approach. Additionally, 3D scanning proves invaluable in reverse engineering, capturing precise details of existing objects to inform new designs or modifications.

Packaging Design
At Rewire Designs, we also offer packaging design to ensure your product stands out on shelves and captures attention instantly. In retail, you have less than three seconds to spark a customer’s interest when your product is lined up against competitors. We create visually compelling, functional packaging that not only protects your product but also enhances its market appeal. Whether for retail, e-commerce, or specialized industries, we consider materials, cost, and sustainability to deliver packaging that leaves a lasting impression.
Final Prototype Created
The creation of the final prototype is a crucial stage in the development process and often involves an iterative approach.
Adjustments and refinements are made to ensure the prototype meets all functional and aesthetic requirements, as well as the original design specification.
For electronic products, this stage includes developing PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), which serve as the backbone of electronic devices, connecting components and enabling functionality.
PCBs are typically finalized once the enclosure dimensions are set to ensure a perfect fit
.
If firmware is required, it is developed after the hardware to ensure compatibility and seamless operation. For products requiring smart phone apps, these are usually completed in the final milestone to align with the fully realized prototype.
Once the final prototype is created, it represents a significant achievement, marking the transition to small unit production. These prototypes can be manufactured in limited quantities for alpha and beta testing, focus groups, or other testing and marketing purposes. This stage not only validates the product’s design and functionality but also provides valuable feedback for final adjustments before scaling to mass production.
